About Us
Founded in 1994 as a tax-exempt corporation, we support the human rights community in the United States and overseas primarily by providing access to workplace fundraising campaigns. The largest of these by far is the U.S. government's Combined Federal Campaign.
We are governed by an independent board of directors with many years of distinguished nonprofit and human rights experience. Membership in HCROA is open to organizations active in the human rights field that are 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and meet the tests of fiscal accountability, governance and programmatic impact required by the campaigns we enter. Workplace Giving AllianceHCROA is a founding member of the Workplace Giving Alliance (WGA), a family of federations participating in fundraising campaigns in the public sector.
Together, WGA federations represent hundreds of charitable organizations working in nearly every sector of the non-profit world. This partnership is committed to upholding a high standard of efficiency, transparency and stewardship of pledged funds. Workplace Giving Alliance is a trade name registered by HCROA on behalf of the collaborating federations. Find out more about WGA. WGA's Vision for Workplace FundraisingWe see the payroll deduction, which characterizes most workplace giving, as a way for people with modest resources to become philanthropists. Payroll philanthropists are stunningly generous, supporting thousands of charities in their own communities and around the world.
As strong advocates of payroll philanthropy, we are dedicated to the success and integrity of the campaigns that enable it. We also strive to honor donors by getting every possible dollar to the charities they select and by being transparent about operational costs. |
